Ethereum Ready For THE MERGE As Last Shadow Fork Completed Successfully

Obviously, you know there is more than Bitcoin. Dogecoin is a fast "colleague" of Bitcoin - it is a fork. Check out where you can spend your Doge:

The successful completion of The Last Shadow's fork indicates the Ethereum network's willingness to move to a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism.

Ethereum (ETH) developers have confirmed that the prerequisite (shadow fork) required for their long-awaited blockchain upgrade, The Merge, has been successfully completed.

Shadow forks help developers stress test synchronization prerequisites to ensure network security during permanent upgrades. In light of The Merge, an Ethereum developer implemented his first Shadow Fork on April 11, 2022.

About six months later, Nethermind, an Ethereum research and engineering company, confirmed the successful migration of mainnet shadowfork-13 (the last shadow fork), marking the network's transition to a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism. You have indicated that you are ready to move.

The testnet allowed Ethereum developers to run nodes, deploy contracts, test infrastructure, and more. As a result, shadow forks allow developers to proactively assess the impact of network upgrades. As part of the upgrade, the community will need to upgrade their Ethereum client to run a combination of execution and consensus layers.

Alexander Höptner, his CEO of cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX, stressed that extreme caution must be taken during the Ethereum upgrade to avoid service downtime.

Höptner explained:
“You have to be just, let's say, awake and see what happens. There's a chance for high volatility. And so you have to make sure that your services are up and running. [...] We don't expect any major disruptions outside of volatility.”
The CEO further stated that the success of The Merge would be dependent on the support of the community.
